Background and experienceSheena studied at Nature Care Sydney and at the University of New England for the first 2 years of her Bachelor of Health Science, moving to Charles Sturt University to complete it as there the curriculum was more focussed on nutrition. She studied Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, Nutritional Biochemistry and Human Nutrition.The study of Naturopathy includes: Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Symptomatology, Diagnostics and Pathology, Pharmacology, Holistic Counselling, Herbal Medicine, Manufacturing of Herbs, Pharmacognosy, Homoeopathy, Clinical Studies, Physical Examination, Bach Flower Remedies, Iridology, Botany, Celloids, Sports Medicine, First Aid and Integrated Medicine. She also studied Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Natural Health for Animals. Three years later she undertook further studies to become a yoga teacher covering Asana, Pranayama, Relaxation and Mediation, History and Philosophy of Yoga, Yoga Teaching, Functional Assessment, Sequencing, Relationship Building and Adjustment, Yoga for Special Needs, Ayurvedic Medicine, Yogic Nutrition and Cleansing. Naturopaths have to undergo extensive training and have to be a member of a recognised Natural Medicine Association in order to be insured to treat the public. Sheena is a member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) as well as the National Herbalist’s Association of Australia (HNAA) and Yoga for Health Australia (YHA). She is a service provider for all the major Private Health Insurance funds. |
